Programs

Department of Defense (US Navy)
Supporting the US Navy in relation to research and development activities associated with advanced power system management and analysis.  Current responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Program / Project management of Navy programs and tasks.
  • System Engineering & Integration of Components under Development.
    • Explore the ship and system impacts of various alternative electric power sources and make recommendations as to their application.
  • Component Engineering and Assessment.
    • Explore various alternative technologies associated with advanced power system management and analysis as part of the development of the next generation power systems and make recommendations as to their application.
  • Power System Conceptual Design.
    • Develop conceptual designs for those advanced shipboard power system concepts that are found to be feasible and desirable.
  • Support land based testing (Test planning, development, execution and reporting) of next generation power systems and components.

Department of Energy
Inspired Systems is supporting the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).  Focused primarily on renewable systems integration (RSI), and offshore wind power technologies, we currently support DOE’s RDD&D and management activities within the WHTP Program. Our engineers and scientists are providing technical leadership in establishing policy, developing and implementing technology programs, and assisting in the development of new technologies to harvest energy from wind. In helping to decrease the nation’s dependency on exhaustible fossil fuels, Inspired Systems is at the forefront of the creation of systems that will reach far into the future to ensure we can produce the energy required to continue improving the population’s standard of living while reducing the stress on our natural environment. The systems being developed, tested and implemented today hold the key to a more secure and balanced management of the ecosystem where we work and play.

Building and System Automation
Through our experiences working with the Department of Navy, Inspired Systems advocates an “open architecture” approach to automation. We are not encumbered by proprietary software or hardware that limits design options and the ability to insert new technologies as they become available. This approach ensures the best solution for each application, and systems that are easily refreshed to add new or improved capability. Another feature of our automation designs is distributed intelligence. Rather than having one central computer or processor (and the inevitable downtime caused by a single point of failure), we distribute the intelligence throughout the system providing a more reliable, and survivable automation design. Flexibility, economy, and life cycle functionality are inherent with our non-exclusive approach to system design.
