Our Team

Inspired Systems provides premier engineering services to government agencies, commercial firms, and residential homeowners. With an emphasis in technology applications that provide rugged and efficient solutions, we optimize solutions that are both good business and life enhancing.
Our Team has extensive experience designing, developing, managing and implementing leading-edge technologies that advance the state-of-the-art of electrical, mechanical and automated systems, improve their performance and survivability and ensure their ability to function in an environmentally conscious manner.
Our Department of Defense system development experience grounds us firmly in a common objective to acquire quality products that satisfy user needs with measurable improvements to mission capability and operational support in a timely manner, and at a fair and reasonable price. We actively consider what must be done as part of a robust systems engineering process to

  • achieve satisfactory levels of reliability, availability and maintainability
  • successfully pass operational test and evaluation
  • operate safely and consistently throughout the system life cycle

We are leveraging this extensive DoD experience to the benefit other government agencies, R&D programs as well as the commercial and residential sector.

Joseph Mearman, P.E.
Mr. Mearman has over 22 years of experience in engineering management, automation and control systems, and systems engineering. Before co-founding Inspired Systems, he spent ten years working in defense contracting with a primary focus on systems engineering and autonomous automation and control technologies for Navy Ships and Border Security technologies between the US and Mexico. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a research and development engineer and program manager at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Annapolis Detachment.

With experience in providing automation for US Navy warships, and managing 20 personnel with an annual revenue of 5 million dollars, Mr. Mearman insures that all services from Inspired Systems are of the highest quality, accomplished within budget, and delivered on schedule. He has been a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland since 1997 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.

Ryan Elwell, P.E.
Mr. Elwell has over 23 years of experience in the design of electrical, control and automation systems. Prior to co-founding Inspired Systems, he worked on several major Navy contracts, including the automating and operation of a 108 foot Navy vessel and the reduction of the daily workloads of Navy personnel through automation. It was on these programs that he learned the value of “open architecture” system design.

Mr. Elwell brings with him the unique experience of working through strict Naval standards to benefit the design and development of commercial automation systems and engineering projects. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University.

Jignas Cherry
Mr. Cherry has over 22 years of experience of engineering and management expertise with advanced power system and technology development programs. He is experienced in the research, development, and integration of Electrical/Electro-Mechanical power systems and components. His background also includes control systems as well as modeling, simulation, and analysis of diverse system and equipment architectures. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Cherry has had a hand in many major electrical systems designed and deployed on US Naval Ships, both in the research and development phase and into system acquisition and fleet introduction.

Prior to co-founding Inspired Systems, Mr. Cherry was an assistant Vice President at Alion Science and Technology where he supervised over 25 engineers and scientists with annual revenues over 5 million dollars. During this time he was working with the US Navy and leading industry teams to design and implement systems to generate, condition and distribute electric power to ship systems. Most recently for the new Zumwalt Destroyer (DDG 1000) and the Next Generation Cruiser. Mr. Cherry has been an integral member of the Navy’s team that is establishing a new era of survivable ships that maximize the use of electrical systems for both propulsion and service loads.

Mr. Cherry holds a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in Electrical/Power Engineering from George Washington University.

Daniel Yeager
Mr. Yeager has over 10 years of experience in automation and control. He has worked on numerous Navy contracts focusing on the integration of multiple automation systems using distributed control. Mr. Yeager has experience with the design of survivable systems using network topology techniques and has developed web browser based control and monitoring of these systems. He applies his knowledge and experience of a vast array of automation protocols and distributed automation technologies to provide seamlessly integrated systems to building and large system development and design. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University.
